Vote, Proposed change for next year

Thank you for all of the feedback on the rookie claim rule.  We will retain this rule after voting on a proposed modification.  Here is the rule change we passed last season:

  1. Each CABL team has priority on the new players on their corresponding MLB roster. Prior to the draft, all players that debuted in MLB are available to be claimed by the corresponding CABL team.  Each team may claim one of these debuting players in exchange for a 1st round draft pick (playoff team) or 2nd round pick (non-playoff team), as long as they have the draft pick required.

The proposed change will read:

734. Each CABL team has priority on the new players on their corresponding MLB roster. Prior to the draft, all players that debuted in MLB are available to be claimed by the corresponding CABL team. Each team may claim one of these debuting players in exchange for a draft pick (as long as they have the draft pick required):
Teams with the 8 best records:       1st round
Teams with the 8 worst records:     3rd round
All other teams:                                 2nd round

If tiebreakers are used to determine playoff/draft position, teams are assessed the lower applicable cost.

Please vote yes or no on the proposed change.  Voting closes Sunday, 8 PM eastern

Update

  1. Boston trades Hector Velazquez to Pittsburgh for Richard Urena.

The draft is complete.  Everyone did a great job keeping things moving despite a couple of Stratdraft glitches.  We’ll have a brief add/drop period so people can fine tune their rosters.  The people you drop are gone, the people you add you keep.  This will be done via email to me, not Stradraft.

CABL schedule:

8 PM eastern, 2/14/19 – “free” add/drop deadline
8 PM eastern, 2/17/19 – default manager file to commissioner
2/18/19 – load and go file sent; season starts

The default manager file must have 27 players active, 8 players inactive, lineups vs. rhp and vs. lhp (DH in all games), a completely filled daily starters tab.

You must have a starting pitcher listed for all 160 games of the season so that games can be auto-played if results are not received.  If your roster is short on starts (really shouldn’t be), use a starter on your roster as a placeholder until you add/drop during the season.  Also, there are built-in off days in the schedule, but fatigue carries forward.  You may change your manager, including the daily starters tab, at any time.  I’ve attached instructions on how to build an Excel spreadsheet to assist in building your pitching schedule.

I’m looking forward to a great CABL season.  Good luck everyone!

Announcement

I hope everyone had a great Christmas.

Here is the initial league file and the current draft matrix. I’ve also
attached the debuting players file in case you misplaced them. I’ll also
post these files to our Discord server. Let me know if you find any errors.

The league file has underused players and in-season claims removed, and
retained “non-cards” added. I’ve also moved the Cubs to the NL and the
White Sox to the AL. The schedule has not been loaded.

If there is a player that was on your final roster last season, but did
not play in the majors in 2018, you may retain him as a non-carded
player. These players do occupy a roster spot.

Upcoming deadlines:

1/12/19 – Non-card claims and rookie claims (you may keep one debuting
player from your MLB team in exchange for your 1st round pick).

1/20/19 – Roster cuts (pre-draft rosters must be 25 players or less).
Please send a manager file with keepers active and cuts farmed.

Once I have all of the cuts processed, I’ll get StratDraft setup and we
can start the 2019 draft.

Happy New Year everyone! Looking forward to another successful CABL season.
